  76. Tyler Corder says:

I was bullied both physically and verbally in junior high. In high school I made a pact with God that if He helped me make friends I would be happy (I know… but that's what I though). So, encouraged by prayer, I began working out twice a day. I lost around 40 pounds and received the praise I wanted from my peers. Yet, I realized how unfaithful people can be, but that God is faithful. Jesus in John 15:19 says, '"if you were of the world, the world would love its own, but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, because of this the world hates you."' This verse stands out to me because I am chosen by God. God doesn't need anything from us (Acts 17:25). Rather than boast in myself as the world would have me do, which did not give me satisfaction, I get to boast in the Lord. I no longer think of less of myself, but think of myself less.

  85. Sylvia Woller says:

My favorite Bible verse is Proverbs 3:5-6. I first learned of this verse back in 2006. My mother had handed me a bookmark with my name "Sylvia" with the description "Determined' and then Proverbs 3:5. I treasured this bookmark, because it was the only printed thing I had with my name correctly spelled, which is really rare!!! This verse then carried me through parents' divorce, violent home-life, strive for perfection, distrust in man, broken hearts, and indecisiveness. Eight years I have clung to this verse in tears, frustration, fear, and confusion. Near the end of my high school years, I used this verse, and the word "determination" of not letting my past dictate my future, in applying for local scholarships. One sponsor recognized me life's determination and granted me coincidentally the exact amount for my housing payment at my current college. That was definitely a blessing of my abiding in Jesus Christ. Proverbs 3:5-6 has guided me in my past and present time, and believe that it will come to my aide in difficult times in the future.
