“As I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you.” (Joshua 1:5)
The word of God is so sufficient. Every moment I spend with my Father soaking in His word is a moment that strengthens not only my relationship with Him, but my spirit as well. One of my favorite things to do when troubles come is to read the biographies in the Bible. I remember when I first discovered that I would have to fight for my special needs son’s medical care; I thought about Deborah (Judg. 4), and how she led her people courageously into battle!
“June, as I was with Deborah, so I will be with you.”
Then there was the time when I faced a trial so dark and heavy that it felt as if no one could possibly understand. I was comforted by the life of Joseph (Gen. 37 – 39). As I read his testimony; I imagined quietly what it would be like to sit beside Him in that cold prison cell; as he wondered if he’d ever dream again.
“June, as I was with Joseph, so I will be with you.”
Years later as I sat alone in the dark in a broken down car at four A.M, I thought of John (Rev. 1:9), exiled to the Isle of Patmos, remembering the miracles of days past and wondering what the Lord would show him next.
“June as I was with John, so I will be with you.”
Now it’s your turn. Our Father never changes. Trust that He sees you.
He knows and understands perfectly what you are experiencing right now. He rejoices with us, He comforts us in all of our afflictions, and He never leaves or abandons His children. No matter what you may be going through today, whether ordinary or extraordinary — He is Emmanuel; God with us. And as He was with Moses, so He will be with you.
